Experimenting with circular motions in acrylic pours and acetate
I began these set of experiments by using a new colour patelle as I decided I needed to experiment with a variety of colours to find which colours work well together and match the concept of my personal investigation.
I decided to go with a brighter colour palette, influenced by psychedelic colours and patterns, also the classic red and blue 3D effect. I decided to chose this as the 3D pictures using the red and blue is quite an old trend, and the use of psychedelic drugs as declined, in a similar way 3D colours have.

I decided to chose this as the 3D pictures using the red and blue is quite an old trend, and the use of psychedelic drugs as declined, in a similar way 3D colours have.
I began by using red and blue, I added a little purple to help the colours mix slighty, I added the light grey lines onto the piece to help highlight the cells when they form. As I found that adding a lighter colour in the previous experiments helped me realise that it was better adding some tones which complement as opposed to match the colour palette.
This was the first attempt at creating a circular pattern on the plate. I used a sheet of acetate folded in half to act as a a support which I used to create the circular motions in the piece. I found this looked quite effective but I felt it could be improved on by doing a few prints to thin out the paint on the surface of the plate.
The two above photos are photos above show the two different sides of the acetate print. The top photo is the side that made contact with the plate, and is captures the curcular movement which I created by pulling off the acetate in a circular twisting motion. The photo below shows the other side of the paint, which mirrors what the plate looked like to begin with.
The above photo was taken after I did a second print off the same plate. I find this piece captures the twisting movement very well and theres still cells present in the piece. It gives the piece lots of movement and fluidity whilst keeping the vibrancy of the colours and the psychedelic theme I was going for.
After these series of experiments I feel I'm ready to plan my final.
